Well, as per the originated meaning of nostalgia it’s a bit of funny thing. Etymologically it’s a Greek word which means return home, sufferings or pain. That’s why it was identified as an immigrant syndrome and people thought it was a genuine illness. But these days it has a lot of connotations and most of which are obviously positive.
When we start to relate this thing to the gamers, we might say they are really prone to it. This thing happens quite oft to them. Whenever they start to play an updated version of any game they got instant comparative feelings about the old ones which they enjoyed a lot once.
Well I guess, it’s time to move on to the main part. You know what, this is a really tough ask to make a list of top 5 nostalgic games ever from the bunch of awesome games we had so far. With the consideration of different genres and moods of gameplay, we tried to shorten a list of top 5 nostalgic games for you guys. We are not sure that every gamer will agree with us but we guaranteed that this is surely gonna touch the nostalgic sense of your old school gaming.

This classic Atari 2600 arcade game was a time spending dram stuff for the kids of 80s. Well, if you not from that era you will unable to understand the nostalgic part of this game. You have to realize it from the sold amount of 7 million. Doesn’t it sound like crazy when you thought of today’s games market?? There was nothing looks or sounds like awesome then. Pac-man started to popularize a genre of gaming called maze against violent games like Shooting Gallery or Space invaders. That classic game features Pac-man in gamers’ role and the four other ghosts called Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde as enemies. Your goal was to consume all the Pac-Dots in a stage in order to proceed to the next one without touched by those four roaming ghosts. It may sound too simple but wasn’t that much easy for the gamers back then when it comes to the higher levels. And especially the music part too funny in those days. Although it was too so-called old school type of game, it meant a lot for kids of early 80s.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
As a kid, you don’t have any adult things to worry about its just carefree like that I’m gonna play video games all damn day and drink so much lemonade and don’t wanna get up even for pissing because I’m having too much fun. This 1992 Sega Genesis 8-bit platform genre video game had that potential in it. Some fellas would like to mix it up with the Super Mario Bros of NES, but who else cared about it when the gamers loved it a lot. The chemistry was so tremendous between two characters Sonic and Tail that people still love them. This was the game that grabbed you and never let you go.
Super Mario 64
If you are a kid from of the 90s or even 80s and used to play retro games but did never messed up with Super Mario series then we guaranteed that you missed something really special. The red-capped tiny guy with a mustache just run around a castle and discovers the environment without time limits facing different enemies, and also the amazingly funny music on the background. It sounds really awesome in all together. This was a combination of previous games of Super Mario series of NES. It was first released in 1996 for SNES. This retro game gave the chance to experience 3D Super Mario for the Mario lovers. It doesn’t matter which genre’s gamers you are, you have to confess that Super Mario is a legendary game character of all time. Thanks a lot Mario for entertaining kids of different eras.
The Legend of Zelda Majora’s Mask
This game was spooky and hard too. It was different than any other Zelda games. It was just the second time that Nintendo used 3D graphics for Zelda series. This game’s storyline was the sequel to its previous Zelda game called Ocarina of Time. Link’s journey for masks with various featured action packs in a three-day cycle was so prolific in the context of entertainment. This action-adventure genre game just had blown away the mind of gamers of those days. That was really nostalgic because you were just playing in the darkroom after coming back from school. This was one of the kinds of games that you look forward to in school all day and cannot wait to play this. It was really epic to Super Nintendo game.
Mortal Kombat II
Mortal Kombat II was the most popular fighting game of its time. It was released in 1993 with a gaming ability for any consoles available then. This arcade games took a lot of time gamers of the 90s. It was rich in action pack sounds and graphics of its time. Most of MKII lovers used to play for time in the boring classes and eagerly waiting for after school or college time and go to the arcades down the street with friends. Most of the time the arcade machine was constantly crowded people due to its demand. We don’t know how much money gamers put into that cabinet, but pretty sure that they could have probably purchased their own cabinet with that much money.
