Here, we are gonna make a list of 5 most nostalgic gaming consoles from the down to dusk of entire history part of video games. Let’s see what we have got for you guys this time.

Magnavox Odyssey

Magnavox Odyssey

Oh man! you have to call this thing as the grandfather of all video game consoles. Odyssey the first ever commercial gaming consoles which bring the gaming experience into our living rooms from the experimenting technical labs of the computer in 1972. Not only kids back then but also people of different ages got their first-ever chance to play monitored games by sitting side by side. During its 3 years retailing availability over .35 million units been sold all over the world. TT, Shooting Gallery, Interplanetary Voyage are most popular games of this box. Most probably it contains the DNA of all several genres of video games.

Atari 2600

Atari 2600

Atari 2600 primarily called Atari VCS when it was released back in 1977. If Odyssey starts the new gaming era with the idea of home game consoles then Atari 2600 pumped it up to the next level.  The most spectacular features of it were the system of running games on cartridges which unbar the gaming business opportunity to the third-party groups so they can create and sell their own titled games. Over 30 million units of Atari 2600 was sold worldwide in that time period of 15 years with a unit price of $199(almost $790 in today’s money) and took the gaming business into a billion dollar industry. Besides 7 million units sold Pac-Man there was also Space Invaders, Combat, Super Breakout, Missile Command, Pitfall and so many more catchy games for kids back then. From both perspectives of technology and making the kids hunger for the newly released cartridges, it has a huge contribution to the video games industry.

Sega Genesis/ Mega drive

Sega Genesis/ Mega drive

Mega drive known as Sega Genesis in North America was delivered by Master System in 1988 in Japan and in 1989 in the US. This console sets up a great platform for the modern games with bringing the adult market into the play. The Orthodox concept of video games as kid’s things was remarkably changed by this console with mature titled games like Mortal Kombat and Night Trap. It also produced sports simulators like NHL ’94, Sensible Soccer and John Madden Football ’92 were highly enriched in graphical perspective.  The masterpiece Sonic the Hedgehog was the best performance of it. This game was sold 15 million copies worldwide while the console itself was sold 40 million units in numbers.  Sega Genesis really gave a new objectifying way to the platforming games genre.

Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)

Yes, we knew that you guys were eagerly waiting to see when this one will arrive on the list.  We can guess that typical NES startup and gameplay sounds are still buzzing in ears.  When the US video game industry was facing video game crash in 1983 then it came as an angel from Japan to revitalize the industry.  NES introduced a new standard and business models to the third party developers by authorizing them to produce and distribute titles for Nintendo’s platform.  This Boss consoles sold over 62 million units worldwide. Oh!! How can you forget the way Super Mario Bros games spectacularly colored your childhood? And what about the legendary The Legend of Zelda, Contra the Call of duty of its day, the slashing Ninja Gaiden, thrilling Mega Man, Metroid, mysterious  Castlevania, Action pack Punch out, funny Ducktales and so many more?  Oh, my words it’s really making me nostalgic, who else will not when it’s about NES games? Anyone must have to confess that it was one of the best gaming consoles of all time and also a pure gem to the gamers of that era. Later on, it was developed as Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990 which was awesome too but in the nostalgic sense, we prefer the First edition called Nintendo Entertainment System.

PlayStation 1

PlayStation 1

This is the first console by which Sony Interactive Entertainment starts to rule the gaming industry. They introduced Play Station to the worldwide market in 1994 and it’s the first one to reach 100 million units sold the club in the next 9 and a half years time. this console gave us the chance to grow up with some amazing games like Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy Series, Tomb Raider, Metal gear solid, Resident Evil 3, Tekken 2  and some sports simulating games such as Tony hawk’s pro skater 2, NBA live 98. Until Sony launch Play Station 2 in 2000, it was way ahead of Nintendo 64 and Sega Dreamcast in the market. Since then Sony continued to amaze us by producing the other latest version of it.

This is it, excuse us for missing the names of Nintendo GameBoy, Neo Geo advanced Entertainment and Xbox (obviously the first edition). This is a list of just five and we had to go for the bests from many perspectives.  Whether you are a gamer of the 80s or 90s or even someone from the last decade, you have to concede those names as legends of gaming history as well as memory shaking nostalgic consoles of your life too.
